Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing and resilient. Many are immigrants or from immigrant families. Many are affected by being homeless and neighborhood violence but come to school everyday ready to learn.
In a neighborhood where violence is an everyday part of life, school becomes so much more than just a place to learn.
The students in my classroom recognize the value of an education as a means to a positive future and hopefully, someday a safer community as well.
Our students are English Language Learners in an urban neighborhood. School is their safe haven and a place where they can focus on a positive future. They are eager to learn and take pride in the investment of others in their education.
My Project
Our school is very lucky to have the most amazing students who bring so many wonderful personalities. Each of our learners makes our school community the amazing learning environment that it is. We are hoping to add a sensory path that will help all our learners have a little escape here at school. Whether it’s a bad day or a student with needs related to ADHD, ADD, autism or other learning or behavioral needs, we want them to have a safe space to get some energy out. This sensory path will help to make our school community an even stronger home away from home for our kids!
