Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been teaching 7th grade English Language Arts in an urban district for over 10 years and each year my population has changed. This year, I am teaching three general education 7th grade classes. Next year, it could be inclusion again or even ESL; I won't know until September.
Many students live in poverty and are faced with violence on a daily basis.
Each student who enters my room is given many opportunities to learn and grow throughout the year. I strive to make my classroom a safe haven for my students and a home away from home!
My Project
Testing has evolved over the years to include videos.The school district has suffered so many budget cuts that I am left with no money to purchase anything that's mandated and headphones are not mandated!
I have always considered visual learners in my classroom when planning lessons and have so many units that include films and short videos.
I do not have enough headphones to support my entire class for individual viewings, so I have to show the video to the entire class. I would like to be able to assign short videos to students to view on their on to prepare for testing next year. Headphones are critical to learning in this day and age.
