My Students

My school is considered a Title I, low income, school. This means over 2/3 of our students are on free and reduced lunches. We have a wonderful community here and a lot of diversity per classroom. Out of 24 students in my class, 11 of them speak another language or have a different language backgrounds.

They are all very hard working, lovable, and kind students.

In the classroom, I see a lot of them thrive by playing their individualized games on their Ipad. I am very fortunate to get to work with them each day.

My Project

With these headphones, students will be able to be successful and focus on their learning without being distracted by others. Being in a low income school, I would also like to help take the financial burden off of the parents for headphones as school supplies, as quality ones are expensive and the inexpensive ones do not last all year.

The students will use these headphones in a variety of ways in the classroom.

In Mathematics, students thrive in a program called Dreambox where it is individualized at each level for each student. It makes learning math specialized for them, fun and game-like. For reading, students would use these headphones in many diverse reading apps. They listen to books, poetry, challenge their word work skills, create stories, and work on all foundational skills needed to become a better reader. Some of these apps even allow students to speak into the microphone to listen and record how they read, which allows them to self monitor their reading.
