Help me give my students manipulatives for our literacy centers. Alapha-bots and snap-n-learn alligators are a fun and engaging way to learn letters through play.
It is impossible to accurately describe my lovable, hardworking, and creative Pre-K class in Tulsa OK. They range in age from 4 to 5 years old, come from extremely low income homes, and are from disadvantaged populations. Each day is an adventure in our classroom that strives to create a love and joy for learning in these young minds.
Reading has always been an exciting task for my students.
Even as they struggle to learn their letters and sounds, they still find joy in some of our favorite stories. Whether it is a taco loving dragon or a princess who loves anything pink, my students see themselves in them.
Getting a child to love tacos or to wear nothing but pink is not a difficult task. But, instilling a love of reading at a young age can be difficult. Pre-K is a big growing year for most of these children and one of my biggest hopes is that when they leave my class they will have a desire to learn and read more.
My Project
My classroom is in need of engaging literacy toys to use in our literacy/ ABC center. This center is vital for Pre-k students, it reinforces the letters and sounds learned during whole group time.
Alapha-bots are a fun way to engage the students through play.
They twist and manipulate the toy to turn it from a letter into a robot. Snap-n-learn alligators are also a fun way to incorporate play into literacy
learning.
Toys like these are so vital to a child's learning experience because they are able to express themselves through play. This is a great way for the students to learn during play.
