My students need a document camera to be able to see visual examples of what we are working on to better understand the material, and my ancient overhead projector just died. HELP US!!!!!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have no white boards in our class and my overhead projector has died leaving me with no means of displaying visuals for students during activities.
At CA Jacobs we have a very large EL Latino population (50%) and being able to display visual examples of classwork is essential to reaching these students who are not fluent in English.
We are a small school, around 600 students, and like many schools have no money for replacing things like my overhead projector. Our school is currently in PI(program Improvement) however, this last year we finally reached our goal of gaining over an 800 API score in our continuing efforts to come out of PI. Currently we have 4 science teachers, and two of us(myself included) have had our projectors crash. It is difficult enough to reach 7th and 8th grade students and keep their interest in science peaked, but it is even more difficult when we have no way of displaying visual learning tools with examples of what's expected of them on their class work. The school can barely afford the light bulbs for the projectors, which means getting a replacement for my class is not very high on the priority list.
My Project
A document camera is a wonderful tool for gaining student interest and helping all students (especially those with low English proficiency) understand the assignments and activities we are working on in class. A document camera allows me to visually display the worksheets and activities we are working on as a class in full color and with great clarity for the students and I can work through the examples right in front of them. The other great benefit of a document camera is that it eliminates the need to use overhead projection slides which are very expensive, and require constant cleaning which is very time consuming and dirty after each use as well as the use of overhead pens which are also expensive. A document camera allows me to work on the exact same worksheet the students are working on with more clarity and precision and it saves time and money, both of which are very valuable assets to teachers and the school.
The donation of a document camera to my students and our classroom will make a HUGE difference in student learning for several reasons.
1. I currently have no overhead projector and no proper white boards to use for work examples to help students.
2. Our school has a large ELL population and having visual examples for learning material is essential for these students as I can not always explain exactly what I want verbally to them.
3. Our school has no money and can not replace my projector.
