This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am the proud teacher of 28 new kindergarten students. We are about to begin a new school year which is always very exciting for all. I teach in a low income neighborhood and gathering necessary school supplies is always a challenge.
I am seeking your aid in helping to provide basic school supplies for these children. I have purchased some of these supplies throughout the summer but I can't supply enough for the entire class throughout the school year.
The supplies I am requesting include items such as primary pencils, glue sticks, erasers, pencil sharpener, crayons, dry erase boards, student journals, and drawing paper.
I can assure you that these supplies will be used for various student activities on a daily basis. These students will be cutting, gluing, writing, drawing, and creating. I am also looking forward to the journal writing as I will be able to store their daily entries. This will allow us to keep track of their growth in writing throughout the school year. This journal will be viewed during parent conferences so the parents will be able to watch their child's progress as well. The children also love to see their personal growth and achievements and will be given the opportunity to share some of their journal entries with their classmates.
I am very excited about the students use of the dry erase boards. Children often enjoy writing or drawing on the teachers board. These student boards will give each child the opportunity to write on his/her board. This will be wonderful for circle time during whole group activities and can also be used during Center Time.
Last school year I ran out of basic materials such as pencils and glue sticks and had to borrow from other classrooms. Please help keep our classroom stocked for the entire school year. The last thing these students need to worry about is lack of materials.
My goal is to have our classroom fully stocked and ready to go by the end of September. I am asking for your help in making this possible. We appreciate any help you are able to provide.
