We are a Title I school located in Staten Island, New York with about 900 students from Pre Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Our students work exceptionally hard on their class work as well as on their teamwork and extra curricular activities through our school. We offer so many programs to the students ranging from boxing to basketball to test prep and for the past two years we have been a part of Disney Musical's in Schools program working with them extensively to build an amazing musical theater program.
Through this wonderful grant from Disney Musicals in Schools we have produced The Lion King Kids, Aladdin Kids and this year we will be performing Sleeping Beauty Kids!
While this is incredibly exciting for staff and students alike, we unfortunately do not have all the materials needed to pull off a Broadway production. Here at our school we believe in community, and we think this is a fabulous way to make our community come together for our amazing students.
Our show will be live for the public in the middle of May and auditions will begin in just two weeks! We are all so excited!
My Project
For the past few years, costumes have been a problem for us as they are quite expensive and unattainable at times in a Title I school. We have made our shows possible with the use of fabric pieces and a little bit of creativity, but being able to put on a show with complete costumes and props would be a dream come true to each and every one of our students.
Your donation will help to drastically enhance the musical theater experience our students only gain access to thanks to our partnership with Disney Musicals in Schools.
The materials included in this project will cover just about all costume and prop needs for our students production of Sleeping Beauty Kids! which will go live in May 2019. Tickets available in April!
