Our high school is a large school with about 2,000 students. The school is located in northwest Bakersfield. The student population includes a variety of academically, culturally, and physically diverse individuals. Our school is the home of many nationally recognized extra-curricular academic programs, including Virtual Business, which ranked in the top five nationally several times throughout the school's history.
This year we have 22 driven students in the Virtual Business class.
These students were hand-selected to be in this class. It is a great group of motivated and hardworking students! Virtual Business is a 2-year program where junior year focuses on learning business basics and senior year they actually get to create, develop, and run their virtual business. This class has high goals for themselves in Virtual Business this year. They want to succeed in trade show competitions and their goal is to attend the National Business Plan competition in New York by qualifying at the state level in January. Many of these students are in AP classes, involved with other programs, play a sport, participate in or lead a campus club, and have very high hopes and expectations for their college, career, and future.
My Project
Our high school Virtual Business team is planning to attend the Virtual Enterprise Los Angeles Area Conference & Exhibition in February 2019. I am creating this project to help with the hotel costs of the trip. We will be staying for one night in Pasadena. The event includes competitions such as company website, video commercial, employee newsletter, sales materials, company branding, financial statements, marketing plan, elevator pitch, and booth design. Our students will be participating in all of these competitions. The students will also get the chance to sell their virtual products at the trade show and buy from other Virtual Enterprise firms. The Los Angeles Area Conference & Exhibition brings together hundreds of rising young professionals and budding entrepreneurs from all over California, business leaders, and industry professionals for a one-of-a-kind convention.
This trip to the Virtual Enterprise Los Angeles Area Conference & Exhibition will be such a great learning experience for these students getting to participate in various Virtual Enterprise events, competitions, and networking opportunities.
This trip is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these students and a trip they will never forget. Field trips are some of the most impactful learning experiences a student can have in high school. This is hands-on learning at its best!
