This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a title one school where 93% of our student body receives free/reduced lunch. My students come every day ready and willing to learn and I think they deserve the best! They are a class of mixed abilities (both learning wise and physically) and will benefit from new materials and supplies that will enhance their learning! They love to learn new things and they especially enjoy when a lesson includes a fun hands on activity for them to do!
My Project
Our school has recently become a STEM school! This is a wonderful and exciting thing, but my students do not have enough access to STEM materials to fully take advantage of being a STEM school. With these items they will be able to complete hands on challenges and create things with the materials. The STEM game kits will help the students learn how to design and assemble something that they can actually use! The magnetic blocks will help the students unleash their creativity with the ability to freely design anything they want. I plan to use the privacy partitions to host “STEM Contests” where the students will get suppliess and build something behind the privacy partition so that they cannot copy anyone else’s work. The chemistry set will help my student build foundational skills that they need to be successful in chemistry by exposing them to different aspects of the science. They will also be able to access coding and other STEM programs with new WORKING headphones for our classroom computers! These materials and supplies will help my wonderful students better access the world around them and help to prepare them to be successful throughout school and beyond!
