My students need a wonderful culminating end-of-the-year experience with their families. They will learn about different animals and be able to interact with them in the petting zoo.
I work in an inclusive preschool classroom in a large urban school district where students with disabilities learn aside their typically developing peers. My classroom also serves many children who are learning English for the first time. Children come to school for a half-day program.
Early Childhood Education is so important.
Children come to learn social-emotional as well as academic pre-readiness skills. These skills are learned through play, singing, listening to stories, dancing, and other activities that are essential to early childhood development.
My Project
The children's eyes will light up as they learn about new animals and see, hear and pet them. This has been a fantastic experience for our children in the past and we hope that kind donors can help us make it happen. We would like to have a wonderful end of the year celebration with our families and thought Animal Quest would provide a wonderful experience.
Animal Quest provides an experience where our children are able to learn about different animals in an age-appropriate way.
Animals in the show include a snake, tortoise, duck and a white-nosed coatimundi. The children are able to pet animals, learn about their habitats and hear about where they are from. At the end, certain animals are brought out for a petting zoo where children can walk next to the animals and pet them, as they feel comfortable.
In preparation for the visit, we will be studying a "Pets Unit" where we will learn information about animals and caring for them. We will also learn about the animals that will come for the visit and share this information with our families.
