Help me give my students materials to help them write. Our daily writing center is lacking in resources- I have to scrape to put things together and the students are not able to really stretch thier writing ability!
My combo of 2nd grade and 3rd grade students live in a rural part of NC. We are not a Title I school so I have to work extra hard to provide them with resources for our classroom. They love to learn and love having access to a variety of ways to learn. Small groups, whole group, tablets, hands-on materials, and of course working in partners is probably their favorite. 99% of my students have been at our school since they were in Kindergarten so they have built strong friendships with each other! They are eager to help one another and build each other up as well!
My Project
Picture students sitting at a writing center with just papers and worksheets. Boring! I need to provide my students with more ways to use their writing talents. They need to stretch their imaginations and writing is a great way. Technology that they use at home and school doesn't really give them the chance to write anymore! I know they will enjoy the requested supplies so much! The can build sentences and stories and even use the paper sentence strips in the writing center.
These resources will give them a head start on a writing activity and give them ideas on what to write about.
We are using so many hands on materials in class, but they have mainly only been in reading and math. I want to provide them with resources in the writing center too! There are great materials for them in my project. The tiles will work for all learners in my classroom, from the English Language Learners (ELL) all the way to my students who need to be challenged.
I can see the social emotional writing prompts being used for whole class writing! What a great way to write and address ideas and concerns they may have. It'll give great opportunity for class discussion with writing too.
