My students need a comfy place to sit for Reading Mini-lessons, Turn and Talks with a partner and class discussions. Our carpet was taken out due to mold and was replaced with a hard floor.

My Students

My students struggle with reading comprehension and writing skills. They lack background knowledge, vocabulary awareness and need to be able to make connections with their reading to achieve grade level and individual level goals. Our school is Title I and the majority of students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students have varied learning styles and have economic and social issues. Students need to be encouraged, engaged and motivated so that they can strive to do their very best academically.

My Project

This large area rug will assist my two classes by providing them a cushioned place to sit during Reading Instruction. Due to our carpet being taken out for mold and sanitary purposes we have a new but hard floor. This rug will allow my students to feel comfortable when listening to Reading, Writing and Social Studies' Mini-lessons, partner talk on discussion topics and whole class discussions on novel studies. Students are more engaged when they feel comfortable. Unfortunately our school does not have the financial means to provide a class rug. Please help me help my students succeed this year!
