This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I want to expose my students to culture beyond what we read about in our textbooks. I want to provide them with hands on experiences through music and art projects to give them a greater appreciation for culture and the world around them.
I have eleven boys and nine girls in my classroom.
They come from poverty stricken neighborhoods. They come from various cultural and economic backgrounds. This offers a great challenge for myself as well as the students. It also offers a great opportunity for people to work together and learn about others and their way of life. They attend an inner city school that struggles to keep and maintain adequate equipment and supplies.
My Project
My Project: The ipod touch and ipod dock will allow me to introduce my students to a variety of music from around the world. Many of my students don't realize that there is more to music than what they hear on the radio. While working on an art project from a specific part of the world we can listen to a sampling of music from that culture.
I am requesting a collection of books about civil rights to teach students that everyone should be treated equally and that differences should be celebrated. Reading about others' struggles will allow my student to understand that they should exercise tolerance and compassion.
This project will help my students to learn about the unique cultures present in the world around us.
This will provide an interactive learning experience that will be exciting and memorable. Please help my students get to know their global neighbors!
