My Students

Our students are from a small rural area. Our school is one campus with grades PreK-twelve and less than 30 students in most grades. They enjoy hands-on activities. As a technology teacher, I have computers always available to students. However, normal word processing and graphic assignments can become boring and monotonous. Students need to move and experience learning.

I am constantly looking for ways to make their work "Real World" and what better way than to design and create t-shirts and art work.

My Project

Our students spend a lot of time on computer drawn artwork and designs throughout the year in technology classes; however, turning it in is the end of the project and can sometimes seem pointless which means that students do not do their best. Allowing them to see their work on real projects such as t-shirts, posters, and tote bags will put meaning to the assignments given during these units. Being able to proudly wear or display their work will motivate them to do their best when completing projects. Students can also design team or club shirts and complete the entire process from design to creation.
