Help Us to Read with Speakaboos Interactive Picture Books
My students need access to Speakaboos Digital Interactive Picture Books to help with fluency and accuracy during independent reading.
This project expired on July 2, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students work to overcome challenges every single day. As a teacher in a high poverty school, which also has a large military population, I need to create a positive, stable, and exciting classroom atmosphere. My lessons need to be just as positive and exciting, something that is not easy to do with students with differentiated needs and backgrounds.
My students need to be stimulated, and engaged in their learning.
As a teacher, I need to try my best to ensure that my students can create a meaningful connection to their work. I serve a high-needs population that requires an individualized education. Engaging my students, and helping them to see relevance in what they learn, is my ultimate goal. By changing the view on education, I can ultimately change lives.
My first grade students are all different, and so are their reading levels. This makes independent reading a challenge, as we require access to a large variety of leveled texts and readers. Students struggle to sound out certain words, and cannot read fluently with intonation and pronunciation. Most importantly, this makes reading frustrating, and causes stories to lose their meaning.
Read-along audiobooks will help to make reading accessible and fun for young learners!
Speakaboos will provide the class with access to 250+ audiobooks that my first grade students can read and listen to at the same time. This will help students to improve their fluency, make connections to texts, and boost their confidence while reading. Help us to open our worlds, and learn to love reading!
