Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is a Kindergarten classroom comprised of English as a second language learners, students with exceptionalities, and typically developing students. These students come from different countries with diverse backgrounds. My students come from low-income homes. Many of these students are in school for the first time. The school is amazing, but, unfortunately, funding for basic needs in the classroom is less of a priority. My classroom's listening station broke last year. It would be amazing for my students to walk into an inviting classroom and feel comfortable in their environment.
My Project
Our class will use this listening station and junction box, so that the students can sit together and listen to a good book. By providing a listening station my students can interact with each other and enjoy listening to a variety of stories throughout the week. It will help promote reading to students at an early age. This listening station makes reading fun and frustration free for those students who are not reading yet. Students enjoy getting out of their seats and listen to a story along side their classmates. It is an amazing resource to use in a Kindergarten classroom.
