Our student body is super diverse, but they all have one thing in common — they are ready to learn, eager to succeed, and determined to go to college. They come from all over the world: Mexico and the Philippines, Bolivia and Colombia, and some have been born and raised in East Palo Alto. They love to read and write, study math and science, make art and play sports — and most of all, they love our school!
From hands-on experiments in science class to work in our organic garden, our students' rich academic life extends beyond the classroom. Our after school programs are designed with learning and fun in mind, and include spending time with our dedicated volunteers. When it comes to special events, our students love to show off their performance skills and what they learned to their parents and the school.
Scholars during the Digital Age need the chance to engage with tools, resources and experiences that teach them valuable digital skills. This project will provide the equipment that scholars need to create 360 degree videos, pod and webcasts and online videos on the topics of cyberbullying, how to be more sustainable, what is the best way to engage youth in education and more...
Outside of the digital and tech skills they will receive from this project, they will also learn valuable collaboration and project management skills.
Scholars will learn script writing, learning production guidelines and protocols and even presence on camera when engaging an audience. They will share the videos on a scholar powered website that will be open to the public.
