My students are bright, engaging, and a thrill to have around! There is not a day I come to school and don't receive an abundance of hugs and even more laughs. However, due to the circumstances that surround them they are being limited on their educational journey. I teach almost 800 students, kindergarten through 5th grade, at a Title I elementary school where 100% of my students receive free or reduced lunch. They come from various socioeconomic backgrounds and each are unique in every way. Many of these students face challenges of only having educational outlets and tools that are provided them while at school.
Every day my students come to school with a smile on their face (except for Mondays), and they are excited to learn and be around people who want to help them learn.
As a teacher who has the privilege to see every single student in the entire school every week, it is my goal to do everything I can to encourage their love for education and inspire their creative minds.
My Project
Technology is a key component that is missing from our art room. We currently have a laptop and smart board and no other technology at hand. With how much technology is incorporated into everything in today’s society we are doing our students a disservice if we don’t teach them how to use it in every aspect including special courses such as art! Getting these iPad’s would allow my students the chance to explore videography, photography, stop motion animation, and a multitude of art apps that can teach my students about an assortment of aspects of the art world that are otherwise hidden from them. My students deserve to not be left behind in this technological age and need your help to ensure they can continue exploring their creativity!
