My students are the best. I could not be more amazed by these 5 and 6-year-olds. They show up every day with smiles on their faces and an overwhelming amount of love in their hearts. Their desire to learn and excel impresses me daily.
I teach at one of the most diverse schools in Tennessee with over 30 countries being represented by our wonderful boys and girls.
My classroom is the most beautiful "melting pot" you can imagine. Our school is a Title I school; therefore assistance is provided to 100% of our students. We are also a Leader in Me school. The Leader in Me is based on Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People; this initiative focuses on empowering confidence, well-rounded learners and leaders.
My Project
The students absolutely love our classroom library. They enjoy relaxing on our comfy chairs and reading a good book. They even enjoy cleaning it up and making it feel like their own special spot. I believe the students and myself truly understand the importance of this area of our classroom.
My young students take a lot of pride in our library and get very upset when they find books that have not been taken care of; for this reason I am asking for a few things to help keep our library easy to use and organized.
I am truly lucky because we have a lot of wonderful books for the children to love and develop a joy for reading with; but these books are getting torn and lost due to a lack of organization tools.
I am asking for book bins to organize our books in a way that is easy for the students to look through and pick out/put back their desired books. The magnetic paper holders will allow students to easily access any reading response papers. Magnetic display shelves will let us display books that go with our weekly themes to promote excitement and interest in the topics.
