Every year, I am blessed with students who come to school ready to learn, work hard, and be kind to each other, regardless of their home circumstances. As much as I hope that they learn from me, I learn from them.
Every day my students show me that goals can be achieved, circumstances can be overcome, and that the future holds great things for those who give their best.
They make me proud to be an educator and they give my practice purpose.
My Project
Because of the current nature of in person learning, our students will not be able to use their lockers when they return to school, due to the need to social distance. Our lockers are in the hallway, near other students, and our school is attempting to keep cohorts of students separate and socially distanced by avoiding locker usage.
This means that students will need a place to store their backpacks, coats, gym shoes, winter gear, etc.
in the classroom, which my classroom currently does not have. As I have a smaller classroom, it is critical that we have a space for students to keep their things organized and out of the way, so we can spend our time focused on what is truly important: our learning. A cluttered classroom will result in less time spent learning, particularly for those with difficult focusing. Additionally, we will lose learning time if we spend a great deal of time attempting to manage our materials and transition from one activity to the next.
