This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever had a great idea to write down, only to be unable to locate a pencil? This is a regular occurrence in our classroom, and we need help getting sharpened pencils into the hands of brilliant minds!
My class is full of energetic 3rd graders, booming their way to 4th grade.
They are very hard workers, and I am so proud of their accomplishments this year. They came into 3rd barely being proficient readers and have transitioned into excellent readers ready to analyze literature. In August, they did not know what multiplication, division or fractions were, and now they are fluent mini mathematicians flying through numbers.
My Project
We need a very basic supply in our classroom. My personal supply of hundreds of pencils is near depletion, and our electric pencil sharpener has bit the dust. Many of my students ask to borrow pencils to bring home to do their homework and are unable to provide pencils for themselves. Please help us out with this basic need so that we can focus on more important ideas in our academic day.
A supply of pencils and a few good sharpeners will have a HUGE impact on our school day.
We have to save and scrounge our pencils now, and spend a lot of time everyday hand sharpening our pencils. Please, help to keep us sharp!
