My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day with smiles, ready to learn, and excited for the day. They are always asking questions, digging for information, and have a thirst for knowledge and learning.

I am a teacher at an elementary school in Massachusetts, and 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students and families have many struggles at home. I often spend my own family's money to provide materials, learning tools and school essentials for my students. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.

My Project

Lice, bed bugs and germs are easily transferred and shared in the Kindergarten classroom- we work collaboratively at tables and our coats and backpacks are hung up all together in the coat room on hooks.

The wooden lockers would provide each student with a dedicated space to keep their belongings, and aid in preventing the spread of lice, bed bugs and germs from one student to another.

Many times when a student is affected by lice or bed bugs, they do not receive the proper and/or completed treatment, and the cycle continues. The students also miss numerous school days until they are lice free. The lockers would help in keeping all students safe and healthy to come to school.
