This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a lower-income school in the Atlanta suburbs. Students have a variety of backgrounds, but most have been at the same school for the majority of their elementary careers. These students come from a variety of backgrounds, and many from other states (or even countries)! Fifth grade is an exciting year for students.
They are the "senior class" in the school, on the cusp of their next adventure in middle school.
They are learning to juggle more responsibilities and move in to more academically challenging content areas, all the while still enjoying the benefits of elementary school.
My Project
Please help us get off to a strong start in class. We are looking for materials to boost engagement with science and math content, as well as having access to sharpened pencils on a daily basis.
We will use the dry erase materials like the paddles, markers, and pouches to give students easier access to hands-on problem solving.
The paper will allow students to create foldable graphic organizers to help them get the most from our content. The cubbies will help us to stay organized and keep the classroom neat and clean. All of the requested materials will allow us to hit the ground running and set the stage for an engaging and successful school year.
