My students need a standing desk and stool because many of my students have ADHD which makes it difficult for them to sit at a desk for the duration of a 7 hour school day.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the best students. They are AMAZING human beings. They come to school with a lot on their shoulders, but still manage to put in a good effort in the classroom. I teach Math, Science and a reading program. All of my students have learning disabilities. Most of my students are at least 2-4 grade levels behind their General Education peers. That being said, my students have a great sense of humor and love to laugh.
The school I work in is in a low income neighborhood and more than 70% of the students are on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program.
Many of them come to school without basic supplies like pencils and paper. I try to make sure that each one of them has what they need to be successful while they are at school. So far this year, I have purchased pencils, pens, paper, markers, glue, erasers, textbooks and I make sure that there is always a full fruit bowl in class in case anyone forgot to eat breakfast or is just extra hungry during the day.
My Project
I am requesting funds to purchase a standing desk with stool and a wobble seat. We already have one standing desk in our class and in the short time that it has been here, it has helped students maintain focus on their school work and get their wiggles out at the same time. Sometimes, there are two students using the desk together. Additionally, since it has a wiggle bar that students can move with their foot, they have a place to fidget that doesn't disturb others.
This project will make a difference because it will allow my students to have a place to get their wiggles out.
This desk will allow students to have a choice when they feel as though they cannot sit, or if they are feeling extra wiggly. This will also allow them to take control of their own behavior.
