Our classroom is very active! The students love hands-on projects and art! At the end of the year, I want my students to discuss what they have learned through their hands-on experiences. "Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think". Let their little minds think!
The students love doing art, dance, and science.
They love being out at recess and are fascinated when they find a small bug to observe. We do not have grass on our playground, so their exposure to insects and plants is minimal. My students love science and learning about plants and insects!
In the next few weeks, we will be starting to study plants and insects. We would love your help to bring spring alive in our classroom! We will learn about the lifecycles of insects and plants by observing them in our classroom. The students would love the materials for a hands-on spring unit
My Project
My students and I live in the middle of the Mojave desert where temperatures can rise up to 120 degrees! The students do not often see the beauty that nature can offer. The resources selected for this project will help my students experience spring through observation, the arts, and hands-on learning. The students will see the spring they deserve. They will get to observe and question the life cycles of butterflies, ladybugs, mantis, ants, and plants. Through using the arts, students of all learning styles will learn. We will illustrate and write about the life cycles in daily journals. Students will create life cycles using clay, posters, and paint. They will collaborate with each other throughout the unit. Students will create one of a kind art with pastels, tissue paper, and paint.
The materials we are requesting will submerge the students into spring using the arts.
Students are used to the boring, basic art projects with construction paper and crayons. The students will get to experience nature and all the natural beauty it has to offer. Many have never seen a ladybug or butterfly up close and may never. Help us bring spring to life! We want to transform into butterflies and fly!
