My students need sensory manipulatives including Magna-Tiles, puzzles, and sensory items which will help them master skills that are difficult for them.
I have eight students in my self-contained special education classroom, ranging from eight to eleven years old. Each one is a unique individual, with a lot of potential for growth. All but one of the students is nonverbal and they have disabilities that include Autism, Cerebral Palsy and developmental delay.
We need to replace some of our learning activities with items that reflect my students' continued growth and development.
Our students have worked hard and items that used to prove challenging are very easy for them.
My Project
Our students have a variety of sensory and motor issues. The materials we've chosen will help our students have fun while improving their skills. For example, the Magna Tiles set will give our students the advantage of magnetism's hold while manipulating the tiles. Sensory Play Animals and the Multi Sensory Fiber Optic Light will help our students focus on items, due to their sensory features.
Play is the most effective way to entice students' exploration of tasks that may be challenging for them.
The items that we've selected will encourage students to tackle fundemental skills that may be difficult for them.
