Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are curious and love to handle scientific equipment. One of the things that helps to engage them the most is to work in stations, in which small groups of students get to experiment with supplies at their own pace so that they can make discoveries.
In our unit on light waves, we need materials for students to be able to observe all the behaviors that light can exhibit.
For my project, I am requesting UV beads and Crook's radiometers so students can observe absorption of light waves. I am also requesting polarized sunglasses and test images to observe polarization, as well as long, narrow cardboard boxes so they can create periscopes to observe reflection.
