My Students

Our students are an enthusiastic group that don't allow their limited resources to get in the way of their academic achievement. The majority of the population is economically disadvantaged. We have a district wide focus on promoting literacy. Our school has hosted book "tastings" for students, promoted reading for at least twenty minutes each day, and hosted a book battle where students read two books and voted on which one that they liked best. As a result of our collective encouragement of reading, the number of books read increased. The percentage of AR tests passed increased as well. We would like to expand our book collection and make books available in each classroom. We will be good stewards of all donations received.

My Project

Our students need articles that will get them excited about reading. Scope provides the resources needed to help students improve their reading comprehension. It also provides recommendations for differentiation, skills practice, and quizzes.

Scope's text-based questions allow students to gain a deeper understanding of the text, uncover layers of meaning, make inferences, analyze the author’s purpose, trace arguments, reflect on how individual sentences and sections contribute to the larger work and more!

Our district goal focuses on increasing literacy! We desire to get something that would get every student excited about reading and pique their interest to explore different topics. This magazine would be shared among multiple classrooms. We will be good stewards of what we receive.
