My Students
If you've ever been to an HCA event, you know that our kids simply can't get enough of performing. Every opportunity they can, our rock bands blast out soulful jams, our singer-songwriters bear their souls, and our piano players usher you in and out of the auditorium with soothing melodies.
At HCA, we have a culture that empowers musicians to hone their skills and welcomes new students to join in and learn.
For example, a group of our experienced high school students travels to the middle school once a week to teach music lessons. It's wonderful to see them acting as patient mentors who encourage younger students to persevere through challenge.
Music culture has been at the heart of HCA since our founding six years ago. Our kids simply can't get enough of music. They rehearse at break, at lunch, and during enrichment. We need to make sure we keep our equipment maintained and that critical supplies are available so they can keep the fire alive!
My Project
Our students have been rocking out with donated guitars and amps for years, and they've stretched a minimal budget as far as it can go. They've learned how to rewire and fix their instruments and have even rehabilitated guitars that were given to us broken. Imagine what they would be able to accomplish with a little bit of extra support! Our instruments see heavy use and need replacement parts to function at their best. We need basic essentials, like strings and drum sticks, which get worn out and broken from regular use. We need guitar straps so our kids can take their hard work to the stage and perform. Additionally, we need a high quality rack to safely store our instruments and a couple of new ukuleles to expand our beginning instrument classes.
Music broadens students' horizons and creates new opportunities for everyone.
Our music teachers have been doing their best with limited resources. We wish to make sure that whenever a student wants to play, there is a working instrument ready for them. Our requests are basic supplies that will keep our program alive for legions of future rockers. Be part of the dream!
