My Students

Our school is guided by our 4 PAWS: Be Polite! Be Prepared! Be Prompt! Be Productive! We are an urban, public elementary school serving approximately 360 students in grades kindergarten through grade 5. 100% of our students receive free lunch (CEP School), 20% of our students are English language learners, and even more come from dual language homes. Celebrating the diverse cultures of our students and families is very important, and as a community school, we work to respect their traditions.

My Project

As a school housed in a temporary space until our new state of the art STREAM school is built, teachers and students need to begin incorporating STREAM (Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) into their lessons. The leveled book sets included in this project will provide students in all K - 5 classrooms with the opportunity for students to explore STREAM topics by reading about them, and also completing hands on activities that will extend STEAM learning with questions in each of the five steam areas, and a simple explanation of the science behind the challenge. These easy but fun activities can be performed independently, in small groups, or as a whole-class activity.
