This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is located just outside of Atlanta, GA and we serve an extremely diverse population. Our students speak a wide variety of languages, practice different religions, and look very different from one another. Yet, it works for us. We're truly a family.
Our school is an incredible place.
It is filled with curious and creative students, and dedicated teachers that work to nurture this curiosity and creativity. Our students deserve the best of the best, and for many students, the experiences that we give them at school are the highlights of their day.
My Project
I serve multiple grade levels in ESOL this year. I teach approximately 50 students in kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, and fifth grade for forty-five minute segments daily. We work on the English language in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
I am not a homeroom teacher, so I do not receive supplies from the supply lists that get sent home in August.
However, my students still need and use those types of supplies daily. A lot of this ends up coming from my own pocket. I don't mind supplementing so that my students can have what they need, but our supplies are running low and we still have eight weeks of school left! We would greatly benefit from these new markers, pencils, erasers, tissues, paper, hand sanitizer, and Clorex wipes. The great thing about this project is that whatever is left over this year can be used next year for my students. I think you in advance for your kindness!
