Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of the students at this school are learning English as a second language. Many of them receive free or reduced-price lunch. They love coming to school to learn, and they love everything about school: reading, writing, math, and extracurricular activities.
My students are in a low socioeconomic area, but they love coming to school to learn in a safe and warm environment.
They want to come to school every day to learn and be with friends who help them grow to become productive adults in the future.
Recently there was a fire at our school that burned down classrooms including our library and computer lab. Our students were devastated. Everyone was affected. They felt they've lost so much. However, they are inspired to rebuild.
My Project
One wing of our precious school has been burned down. Nothing in the library was saved. This is a student inspired project which we hope to help our school with some minor details for our books in the library. We will need bookends to help keep our books nice, neat and visibly appealing to students, teachers, and staff. We will also need a scanner so that our books can be scanned and stored properly. When we are searching for books, students can help find them easily. Students will know if books are checked out or checked in.
Students are anxious to go and check out books in our temporary library.
Many books have been donated to our school, but we need some other minor items to help us move with our process of allowing students to check out books.
