My students need 2 copies each of 12 high interest books to read during silent reading and literature circle time. These include Forged by Fire, Fire from the Rock, Lost in the Tunnel of Time and many more!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever read a book that was just too good to put down? Did you ever read a book that you wanted to tell someone all about? My students need the opportunity to have that experience with reading. They need high interest books that they can relate to.
My school is facing major budget issues.
We are an inner city, urban school. We have trouble getting basic supplies like paper and pencils.
My students love reading, but have very few options for silent reading or book clubs. Most of the books we have in our classroom have been purchased by myself at library book sales. Because of this, there are very few books that represent multi-cultural children in them.
My Project
We need multiple copies of interesting books for my students to read during silent reading time. These include Forged by Fire, Fire from the Rock, Lost in the Tunnel of Time and many more! The goal of our silent reading is to get the students interested and hooked into reading so it becomes a life long learning process and not just something that is done for school because they have to. These books are high interest so students will love to read them!
My students need to realize that learning and reading are important.
They are at a critical age when many decide if they want to remain on the track to go to college. By providing books that are very interesting it is my hope that they will realize how much fun reading is, rather than being a chore.
