I have a classroom of 25 very enthusiastic students! Their zest for life and learning is one of the things that I love most about them. At any given time you will see students in their reading or writing spots talking with their partners about what they are reading or discussing ways to make their writing even stronger.
Our classroom is very diverse and is represented by a wide variety of learning styles, races and cultures, and socio-economic levels .
My students read at a variety of reading levels. I am fortunate to have a very robust library for my students who read at a typical 3rd grade level or above. Unfortunately, I am lacking a wide variety of books for students who read below grade level.
The students reading below grade level are often the students who are self-conscious about their reading and who feel unsure of themselves.
I would love to provide them a wide variety of high interest series books so that they know that the work they are doing as readers is just as important as the work that everyone else in our classroom is doing.
I don't want them to have to go to a 1st or 2nd grade classroom to get their books. Their awesome series books should be displayed proudly in our classroom library just like all of the rest!
