Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are inquisitive and active 7 and 8 year olds who are eager to learn and be successful in the classroom. They are from diverse backgrounds and speak many languages. Most of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch, and school is a place where their most basic needs are met.

We are the Timberwolves, and our motto has been: "The strength of the wolf is in the pack" and "Howling with Happiness." We are working together in our classroom to build strong relationships and to help each other succeed.

We are learning how to be Respectful, Responsible and Safe in all areas of the school, and everyday we are learning more about what that looks like.

We need some things to help keep or classroom organized, keep our bodies calm, and keep us focused on learning.

My Project

My students love to sit in the library and read each day, but currently I only have room for 2 students to sit comfortably and still be productive in their learning.

I am looping with my students to second grade next year and want to make our library space, where my students spend time each and every day, more usable and comfortable.

I would like to exchange our old and warn out shelves for brand new shelves and give them some more options for comfortable places to sit and read in the library.
