Help me give my students a variety of guided reading books at the levels they need to become more successful readers! I have multiple levels of readers in my room and just don't have the resources I need.
My students are special. They come to our school from all over the world and bring new perspectives and ideas to classrooms. To support students as they learn and grow, I provide an environment they feel safe in where they are capable of doing their best and being successful. With many students and families who are immigrants or refugees, our school continues to welcome families and students with open hearts and open minds. Our primary goals as a district and our legal obligation is to educate all students, regardless of their immigration status.
In my third grade classroom, my students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions!
They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students learning because they will have a larger variety of books to read. These books will be used for guided reading. Guided reading is a small group setting (5-6 kids in a group). In this setting, each student will have a book on their instructional level.
During guided reading, I will be able to teach students skills and strategies that are needed to become independent reader.
These skills and strategies they can then apply to their everyday reading. This will help improve their school lives because the books that I have chosen have rich texts and provide the support that they need to become lifetime readers.
