Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are really interested and really excited about improving their soccer skills. I teach at a Title I, low income school, with more than 95% of students receiving free federal lunches.My campus serves a primarily Hispanic community; my students love soccer. Unfortunately, we do not have a soccer field on campus and we need more equipment (goals and soccer balls)
Having a soccer team on campus, is a great incentive for my students to keep up their grades and try their best in school.
My Project
Many of my students were affected by Harvey as well as many of our schools. Harvey caused devastation and destruction, leaving behind a sense of hopelessness and grief. Almost all my students love sports, specially soccer. Sports is a way for them to escape their inner turmoil and the sense of loss that Harvey created. For me as a teacher, after school sports are really relevant in order to keep my students healthy, motivated and engaged in school.
Practice makes perfect, our new soccer goals will make our team unstoppable!
This new equipment is necessary for us in order to practice with real soccer goals, since we do not have facilities in our school. We will be able to practice in the park and be ready for the games.Our Students are really excited about this new season.
