Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Dr. Seuss wrote,"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." When I was a child, my favorite elementary school teacher helped me develop a love for reading. Now, this is my goal for all my students.
I have an amazing group of first grade students!
I am incredibly lucky to have been their kindergarten teacher and now their first grade teacher. I have watched them grow so much, not only physically, but socially, emotionally and academically. We have a very diverse classroom, including ESL students, special education students and students from economically disadvantaged families. We truly are a classroom family that celebrates each other as unique and special individuals. This wonderful group of boys and girls come to school each day with a smile on their face and an eagerness to learn.
My Project
Books are such powerful tools. I want to provide my students with many opportunities to read books. With a storage cart for our classroom library, my students will have easier access to books. They will be able to "shop" for new books in an organized fashion with the storage bins and labeling pockets. They will be able to easily locate books by their interest and their reading level.
My students love books!
This project will allow them to have better access to what they already love. They will be able to spend more time reading rather than searching the shelves for a new book. Please help make my readers of today become the leaders of tomorrow!
