This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever been completely wrapped up in the beautiful sounds of a symphony? Have you been transported to Mexico by a Mariachi ensemble? Have you ever danced to a song that made every other care disappear? All of these experiences start with great quality sounds!
Our students are kind, hardworking kids from the community around our school.
Most receive free or reduced lunches because they come from low-income families. Most also love coming to school each week to the tough-but-tender staff at our school. The teachers and administrators push the students hard, but are always there with hugs and kind words to keep them going.
My Project
With a high quality set of speakers and our curriculum CD set on an iPod, my students will hear beautiful quality sounds right inside our classroom! The speakers have a remote control which makes it convenient to move around the classroom dancing and singing with the students. The CD sets include about 10-12 CDs per grade level, not to mention all of the supplemental CDs we use to hear music by our composer of the month, music for our musicals, music for dancing, and so on! Imagine putting all of that into one convenient place and making playlists that seamlessly transition from song to song.
This speaker and iPod system will bring us into the 21st century with convenient, high quality recordings of great pieces of music from around the world!
We will also use it for performing music with accompanying tracks so we can be accompanied by a full band instead of only one piano. Our entire school will benefit from having these resources!
