Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 2nd graders are always eager to continue learning. Even with the challenges they face on a daily basis living in a low-income community, they want to continue to strive to do their best!
Having the resources available for them will continue to motivate them to become the best readers they can be!
As they continue to grow as thoughtful readers and writers, my 2nd graders are fascinated about reading higher-level texts, engage in small reading groups for discussions, or have their special independent reading time on their own.
My Project
Do you want to help me continue to promote the love of reading and digging deeper to understand texts in 2nd grade?
This year, my students taught me so much about how they make meaning of the texts they read and I want them to continue to make their thinking visible.
Giving my students the opportunity to own their books, will help them to continue to build their understanding and comprehension by using various strategies such as annotating their texts and jotting down their summaries. Annotating is a very important skill they will continue to master to help them comprehend what they read. Ways my students annotate the texts are by underlining important words or phrases to help them understand characters, questions they have about a section of the text, and connecting ideas within the text.
With this donation, my students will be able to continue to make their thinking visible as they interact with their own books.
