Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students are incredible individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities. They work extremely hard to develop academics, independent living, and career skills.

Our students are from impoverished neighborhoods in the New York City urban area and don't have the same privileges available as many other school-aged students do.

Please support our classroom to help develop our students' transition skills. Transition skills are the skills they need to build to live as independently as possible after graduation.

My Project

Our students are becoming more inclined to use technology to apply to careers, colleges, and vocational schools during their last few years of high school. We are asking for your support in providing us with a desktop computer, wireless keyboard, and mouse to help them apply to various colleges and careers while under our supervision.

Technology is hard to come by in a city school, and with your help, we will be able to provide it to a group of special needs teens who want to move on to the next phase of their lives by finding a suitable college, vocational program or career.

We will use the Lenovo IdeaCentre to provide a space for students to focus on their postsecondary pathways.
