Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a third grade teacher in East New York. I teach in P.S. 345 located in Brooklyn. Over 90% of our children in this school receive free lunch and are below level. In the third grade social studies curriculum the students will be examining communities from other countries such as China, Puerto Rico, India, Mexico, Egypt, and Italy. I would like my students to be able to visually see where these countries are. I would like to have a globe in my classroom for my students to use. I also plan to use the globe as a center, so that all my students will get repeated opportunity and exposure. I am confident that this will help my motivate my students and make learning about countries more interesting. I found the ideal globe. It is a talking globe that allows the students to use a locater pen to hear the pronunciation of locations of the globe. This would be helpful since many of the students in our school our reading below level. It also has multiple settings that allows students to find information about the countries such as population, primary exports, etc. Further there is a quiz setting that allows students to identify as many locations as they can in a set amount of time. The Odyssey III Talking Globe and Atlas can be bought through Classroom Direct. Thank you so much for your consideration.
