Help us learn! Our class is a special education class that was just created this year and we have nothing! We are a diverse group of students who all have different support needs. Lack of supplies and equipment really makes learning at school a challenge.
We are a high school special education class at a huge public school.
This is a class that serves students who have moderate to severe disabilities and helps them learn critical living skills along with academics by building on and teaching academic skills and subjects. For many of my students reading is a challenge and at times they have extreme difficulty following lessons especially during whole group activities. This is due to the lack of visual supports. My students want and are eager to learn. They are a great bunch who enjoy school. Helping us get this projector will enhance their learning and add so much to their high school experience.
My Project
This overheard projector will provide my students with another outlet that will enhance their ability to learn. Many of my students are visual learners and need visual supports in order for them to fully comprehend a lesson. The projector will be used for daily activities to assist in the presentation of school subjects like language arts, math, health, and science. It will also be used to teach lessons in self esteem and self determination. I can use this projector to teach lessons that I have created or adapted that incorporate my students and their likes into the lesson. Seeing themselves up on the board and in a lesson is really exciting and a great way to engage them. This projector will make these lessons possible.
Having this projector will make a huge difference in the lives of my students.
Using this projector to teach lessons will give my students the visual support they need to assist in the acquisition of the skills and information presented. Every skill that a student with disabilities masters brings them one step closer to independence and the more independent they become the better their quality of life will be.
