I teach in a self-contained special education classroom at a small school. I have two amazing students who have moderate to severe cognitive difficulties. We opened this room this year just for them. One student has autism and is nonverbal while the other is diagnosed with an intellectual disability. These students work hard and want to learn. They amaze me daily with their tenacity and desire to learn. They love games as well as fun and engaging activities to help them learn to their full, individual potential!
My Project
This is a brand new class that was just opened this school year to accommodate students with moderate to severe cognitive needs. That means we have started from scratch! We need as many fun and engaging reading and alphabet activities as possible that can help my kiddos learn and meet their individual goals! The more materials we have, the better readers we will become! They need games and activities that help them learn their letters as well as skills like rhyming, blending and beginning and ending sounds. They also need software that reinforces these skills in order to make sure they get the skills necessary to become good readers!
