Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We aren't born knowing how to organize- we have to learn! Organization helps us be effective and productive in every part of our lives!
My students are seventh and eighth graders with special needs ranging from Autism, emotional handicaps, cognitive impairments to ADHD.
Our school is a science, technology, engineering and mathematics magnet effectively serving students who live in high poverty households. Ninety percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Through innovative programs, we are showing some of the most rapid growth in the state as measured by standardized test score improvement.
My Project
I am requesting a label maker and label tape to use to clearly label our classroom shelves, boxes, and files so students know where to find their supplies. I'm also requesting a laminator and laminating pouches to create classroom posters to clearly post our class rules and expectations as well as content-specific posters. Lastly, I'm asking for shipping tape to help keep our posters on the wall securely so we don't have to re-hang them every week.
By understanding the process of organization, students learn many skills including categorizing, prioritizing, and creating logical systems.
These supplies will help my students learn how to organize and then effectively use the organization system we've created!
