My Students

Our community is a tight-knit, small community in North Dakota. We are surrounded by rural farm life. This allows for great learning opportunities related to those topics.

My classroom is focused on teaching students the value of having a choice and a say in their education.

I allow them many opportunities to choose how or what they want to learn. Kindergarten students are so energetic which is so much fun, but also requires learning to be done in very unique ways. We as teachers are constantly trying to think of the best way to reach our students and keep them as engaged as possible.

My Project

Kindergarten students learn best through hands-on activities. Some of the most important kindergarten skills - getting along with peers, sharing, gross and fine motor practice - happen in play centers. We need more options and opportunities for students to use and practice these skills!

Blocks and puzzles are great for giving students the opportunity to practice working together, sharing, and building fine and gross motor strength that they need to write.

A market center can be changed to work with themes and seasons and can teach children how to interact with each other, take turns, and participate in a community.
