My Students

"If you can dream it, you can do it" Walt Disney I believe that my students can do anything with hard work and a positive mind set.

I co-teach a classroom of 50 First graders at a school located in a rural area.

Our school receives Title 1 math services and LAP reading services. Many of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds but they all love to learn and love to come to school.

My Project

The materials requested will allow my students to gain the comprehension skills needed to master the First Grade Common Core standards. Currently we have limited Non-fiction text and many of the standards such as identifying text features can only be taught using Non-fiction text.

This project will make a difference because it will allow me to teach First Grade Common Core skills that I can not currently teach because I do not have the resources.

Providing comprehension activities and non-fiction text will allow me to effectively teach these skills.
