My Students

Have you ever tried to learn a concept with only a book for illustration? Students have a hard time grasping concepts that they cannot see, touch, or connect to real life.

My students total about 125 out of 650 in the school.

Many have learning disabilities that prevent them from learning from a boring old textbook. Our small rural county has limited resources and many students struggle to attain knowledge of concepts needed. Students learn best by having resources that they can see and touch, unlike a textbook.

My Project

By using a hands-on approach to learning using plant and animal cell models and slides, students will be able to see and touch their lesson in order to grasp the concept of cells and their importance to all life as we know it. Students will be able to see actual cell slides through a microscope and investigate the differences of each cell. Students will be able to see an enlarged model of both a plant and animal cell in order to identify each organelle and it's function within the cell.

Cells are a hard concept to grasp and by having these resources, students will be able to gain the knowledge needed about plant and animal cells.

My hope is that by using these models and slides, students will gain a desire to further their investigation and perhaps change the future for all of us one day.
