As a teacher working with students who come from low income households, I am committed to make a difference in their school life. Many students have challenging lives at home and come to school to learn and have fun. The school gives children like the ones in my classroom an opportunity to learn, have fun, and succeed in school.
My students learn best through hands-on activities and play.
I love watching my students being scientists at work, artists making creations, readers looking at books, writers expressing their thoughts, and so much more. The children are building on their social skills and school readiness skills all day long.
My Project
My children love to learn! As spring approaches we will begin to talk about life cycles of butterflies and plants. I have very little hands on resources for my students. My class this year needs hands-on, as that is the way they learn best.
How much fun would it be to actually see the life cycle of a plant and butterfly?
With your help I can make this a reality for my students. I am requesting 2 coupons for caterpillars so that my students can watch them turn to butterflies. I already have the net the only thing missing is the actual caterpillars. I am also requesting a stick on pocket chart with both the butterfly and plant life cycles to help with visuals. A few books that I do not have has also been requested.
Finally for plant life cycles I am requesting a plant viewer, a see through compost, and a set of 4 viewers where you can label the parts of the life cycle as they take place.
