Do you remember learning about healthy food choices. My students struggle with healthy habits on a daily basis.
I teach 22 first graders in a Title 1 School located in a high poverty and high crime area in Pennsylvania.
All of my students receive free breakfast and free lunch. At the present time only a small percentage of my students are at the proper reading and math level. Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken.
My Project
I am requesting books to teach my students about eating properly. My school is a junk free school, however many of my students continue to bring in sugary drinks and snacks. I am hoping that my students will become more aware of what snacks and drinks are healthy and nutritious. I want my students to keep a journal of what foods and drinks are healthy and nutritious.
I am hoping to teach my students about proper nutrition in order that they can be better focused and less jittery during instruction.
Many of my students have a difficult time staying still and paying attention. I want the best for my students.
